17.4.20 Bug Hunt

"It's another glorious day in the Corps. A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm: Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck's a fortune! Every formation's a parade!" Sergeant Apone, United States Colonial Marine Corps. And just like the USCM, the School of Daddy knows how to take care of its charges. Here the children are preparing for an exciting weekend's "Back to Basics" camping in the garden. We are combining Natural History and Healthy Eating with today's activity. The children will be investigating the range of invertebrates living in our natural environment, cataloguing them, hunting them down and assessing their worth as sources of protein. Homework over the weekend will be to investigate how much protein the human body needs to sustain itself over a two day period spent living outside.
